Stefan Joksimovic: Basking in European Glory

Stefan Joksimovic, born in Belgrade in 2008, grew up in a family of basketball. His father, Nebojsa Joksimovic, moved from Lasko, Slovenia to play for KK Hemofarm in Vrsac in 2005, and later represented the Serbian national team in European competitions until 2015.

Like his dad, Joksimovic holds dual Serbian and Slovenian nationality but has chosen to represent Slovenia. His rapid rise in European leagues has drawn attention, making him one of the most exciting young talents in the sport.

Yankees' Lombard Jr. Homers In Debut

George Lombard Jr. homered in his big league debut, becoming the first Yankees shortstop to accomplish the feat in a 2-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 21-year-old drove an 0-2 sweeper from Hunter Dobbins into the left-field seats in the fifth inning, giving New York a 2-0 lead.

Lombard, who is the sixth-youngest Yankees player since 1985 to make his debut, also helped Ryan Weathers pitch six strong innings by starting inning-ending double plays in the second and fifth. Derek Jeter remains the youngest shortstop debutant in Yankees history at 20 years, 337 days. The Yankees won their 10th game in 16 contests, with Chisholm also homering in the second inning.
