And then there were three. The Oklahoma City Thunder dwindled their possible Round 1 opponents to just three possibilities. We saw the first batch of play-in tournament games played out on Tuesday. The eighth seed will be determined on Friday.

The Portland Trail Blazers clinched the seventh seed in a 114-110 win over the Phoenix Suns. They will face the San Antonio Spurs. Deni Avdija had a stellar postseason debut with 41 points and 12 assists. His squad survived a 24-4 run in the second half on the road.

Now, the Suns will get one more chance to get a playoff spot. They will host the winner of Wednesday's Golden State Warriors at LA Clippers matchup. Those are the three teams left that the Thunder could face.

Regardless of who advances, the Thunder should be the heavy favorite to win the Round 1 series. Over the last two years, they swept the eighth seeds. The full Round 1 schedule can be viewed here.

Commanders hold annual Topgolf event for NFL draft visits

The Washington Commanders conducted their Top 30 visit event on Tuesday night.

This serves as the third consecutive year the Commanders have brought in prospects to compete against each other at Topgolf. It's an informal night where players can show how well they can (or can't) hit a golf ball. The Commanders, with the No. 7 pick in the 2026 draft next week, invited several players who will be considered potential picks in that area of the draft. They also invited some players projected to be drafted later.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Arvell Reese, David Bailey, Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, Carnell Tate, Jeremiyah Love, Rueben Bain, Mansoor Delane and Makai Lemon were among the 20 prospects participating in the event.

In 2024, some media members who did not like the event attempted to make an issue of it by saying the Commanders might be embarrassing some top players, such as Jayden Daniels. Pro Football Talk co-hosts Mike Florio and Chris Simms really seemed to lose it last year, going as far as accusing the Commanders brass of GM Adam Peters and HC Dan Quinn were treating these prospective draft choices as, quote, "Zoo animals."

However, the Commanders selected Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in that 2024 draft and offensive lineman Josh Conerly with the 29th overall pick the following year in the 2025 draft. Both of whom attended their respective Topgolf night outing.

Who will be the pick this year? The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Brewers Lose Again. How Did It Happen This Time?

The losing streak for the Milwaukee Brewers continued on Tuesday with a 9-7 series-opening loss to the Toronto Blue Jays that went to the 10th inning.

It marked Milwaukee’s sixth loss in a row. Below are the reasons why it happened, plus an additional note:

A Flurry of Late Runs

Despite the Brewers doing well to tack on runs in the ninth and 10th innings, the Blue Jays were able to outscore them.

Toronto scored three runs in both the ninth and 10th innings to outscore Milwaukee, 6-2. In the ninth, Trevor Megill took over for Abner Uribe to close the game as the Brewers protected a 4-3 lead.

After Megill gave up a walk, a ground rule double and two singles, the Blue Jays were able to work enough runs across the plate to not only tie the game but take a 6-4 lead.

Milwaukee responded in the bottom of the ninth with two runs of its own thanks to an RBI single by Brice Turang and an RBI double by Brandon Lockridge that tied the game back up and forced extra innings.

However, Toronto’s bats would not die down.

Grant Anderson’s Meltdown

After Megill struggled in the ninth, he was replaced in the 10th by right-hander Grant Anderson, and it went no better for Anderson than it did for Megill.

After Dalton Varsho flew out to Sal Frelick in right field, Anderson gave up a double to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that scored Ernie Clement and returned the lead to the Blue Jays. Then, after Anderson intentionally walked Jesús Sanchez, he gave up a double to Myles Straw that scored two more runs and put Toronto up, 9-6.

As a result, Anderson was assessed the loss and Megill was assessed the blown save.

Offensive Improvement

The Brewers have yet to break their losing streak, but they have demonstrated some improvement at the plate and an ability to score more runs than the first four losses of the skid had to offer.

Milwaukee went 12-for-41 on Tuesday night. It is a performance that follows up a six-run effort in a loss to the Washington Nationals on Sunday that saw them go 9-for-36. After multiple games in which they could muster no more than five hits or a couple of runs, it shows that the offense is getting back on track.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford’s Champions League dream came crashing down as FC Barcelona lost 2-3 to Atletico Madrid on aggregate at the quarter-final stage.

He played the final 22 minutes of the match but failed to have any shots on goal.

Rashford also failed with his only dribble attempt, but he did manage to make one key pass on the night. He also found a teammate from one of his crosses, but it did not lead to a goal.

The 28-year-old also failed in his two ground duels but did win his only aerial battle.

Dan Gore

The midfielder tasted relegation as Rotherham United were soundly beaten 0-3 by Wigan Athletic.

The Millers will now play in League Two starting from next season.

Gore only completed 74% of his passes and failed to make a key pass during his time on the pitch.

He also had one shot that was blocked by the Wigan defence. Gore also failed in his only dribble attempt to progress the ball up the pitch.

The midfielder did win all three of his tackles, though, and won 80% of his ground and aerial battles in a combative display.

He also made one interception and clearance on the night.

Gabriele Biancheri

The young Welsh forward was also given a start in The Millers’ defeat.

He played 62 minutes of the loss and failed to have a shot on target.

Biancheri also had no key passes and did not complete any of his dribble attempts on a difficult night.

He also failed to make any of his tackle attempts. The young forward was also poor in duels, winning just 33% of his ground contests.

Stein: There's 'growing anticipation' LeBron James could leave Lakers

Earlier this season, there seemed to be a very good chance that LeBron James would leave the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. The team struggled to win half its games in December, January and February combined, and some felt there were signs that added up to James heading back to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But the Lakers' success in March has seemingly poured some cold water on the rumors of James leaving the team. On the other hand, a recent report by NBA insider Marc Stein on his Substack has renewed the speculation that the 41-year-old will depart in a few months.

"The Lakers' LeBron James. The [Los Angeles] Clippers' Kawhi Leonard. And, of course, Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo. … There is a growing anticipation in numerous front offices, league sources say, that two or even all three of the above marquee names could land with new teams next season."

James will become a free agent at the conclusion of this season. While the Cavaliers and perhaps the Golden State Warriors seem to be in play for his services, there is the reality of the almighty dollar, and that reality may help keep him put.

Unless the Cavs make some big moves, the most they could offer James is the veteran minimum salary — or perhaps the taxpayer mid-level exception. The Lakers, on the other hand, are projected to have roughly $50 million in salary cap space. That means that even if he has to take a major pay cut to remain with them, he would still make substantially more money than he would with Cleveland or even Golden State.

Of course, the future Hall of Famer could also decide to retire this summer. However, there seems to be a feeling around the NBA that it is very unlikely James will retire that soon.
