Below you'll find recommendations from HBO Max, Peacock, Apple TV, Paramount Plus and, of course, Netflix. And, while we don't have any specific Disney Plus or Prime Video recommendations this week (once you've caught up with the latest episode of Reacher, which features a very funny Tom Cruise reference, anyway), we do have guides to the best Prime Video movies and the best Disney Plus shows. For our very latest streaming recommendations, head below.

Supergirl

Available: US/UK
Where to watch: HBO Max

Supergirl didn't exactly soar at the box office; in fact, it made less than notorious flops Joker 2 and Morbius. But don't let that put you off, as Supergirl has much to recommend, not least a spirited performance from Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.

The second movie in James Gunn's DCU Chapter One, Supergirl takes place ahead of Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, and it's essential viewing ahead of next summer's DC offering. Plus, who can pass up more time with good boy Krypto?

Keep the watch party going with our list of the best HBO Max movies.

The Paper season 2

Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Peacock (US), Sky One/NOW (UK)

The second season of this surprisingly charming spin-off of The Office (US) is out to binge in full, with all 10 episodes now streaming. Set in the newsroom of a local newspaper in terminal decline, it mirrors much of what made The Office great: goofy characters, sharp gags and a classic will-they-won't-they romance.

We'd be lying if we said this comes close to The Office, despite the involvement of US Office creator Greg Daniels, but it's an enjoyable enough facsimile, and Domhnall Gleeson is a terrific comedic centerpiece as editor Ned Sampson. Plus, Office supporting character Oscar Martinez appears in the show, so you never know who might make the trip over from Scranton one day.

Fill out your watchlist with our look ahead at the new TV shows to come in 2026.

Last Seen

Patrick Brammall as Ian Ridley running through an office in Last Seen

Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Apple TV

This riveting thriller is Apple TV's first Australian original. Set in a fictional port town, it stars Patrick Brammall (of Colin From Accounts fame, see below) as former chief of police Ian Ridely, who turned to operating emergency phone lines after the disappearance of his 3-year-old daughter 11 years prior. After her body is seemingly unearthed following a mudslide, Ian answers an emergency call from a young woman he believes to be his now-teenage daughter, setting him off on a quest to find the daughter he thought lost.

Based on a page-turner novel and directed by The Crown's Christian Schwochow, it's one of those shows where you'll lament the weekly wait between episodes. But the good news is, the first two dropped at the same time, with new episodes set to air weekly on Wednesdays.

Once you've devoured the first two episodes, check out our list of the best Apple TV shows.

Call My Agent! The Movie

Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Netflix

It's been five years since comedy series Call My Agent! came to an end with the fourth and final season, and now the former ASK talent agency team are back for a sequel movie. Set in real time, half a decade after the closure of ASK, Andréa is now directing a movie. But when disaster strikes and the lead actor drops out, the former team reunites to save the project.

It's funny enough on its own merit, but one of the treats of Call My Agent! was seeing which famous French actors cameoed across the series (Sigourney Weaver even popped up). We won't spoil them here, but there are some big-name Hollywood cameos to watch out for in the movie.

Looking for something else? Here's our list of the best movies on Netflix.

Colin From Accounts season 3

Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Paramount Plus (US), BBC iPlayer (UK)

The third and final season of this delightful Australian comedy show is now out in full, perfect for a weekend binge. Gordon (Patrick Brammall) and Ashley (Harriet Dyer) are the ideal mismatched couple, brought together by their injured dog, Colin From Accounts (the name will make sense when you watch it). But after seemingly breaking up for good following a failed proposal at the end of season 2, can their undeniable connection bring them back together?

Alongside the winning leads and a sky-high gag rate, Colin From Accounts is such a treat because Gordon and Ashley are a perfectly messy pairing. Brammell and Dyer are married in real life and, despite their characters being all wrong for each other in many ways, you can't help but hope it works out for them.

Kaiju Alpha codes give huge buffs to Exp and cell generation, not only letting you power up faster, but also helping you reach any cell goal you might be headed towards to unlock new Kaiju or Skins.

Exp has a significant use in terms of getting stronger in this Roblox experience where you fight as a Kaiju against other Kaiju, and while skins don't have any benefit in combat, looking cool is part of the experience when you're playing as Godzilla or Kong. So, whether you want an Exp boost or a new skin, here are all the latest Kaiju Alpha codes.

If you're after other rewards that you can use across all of your experiences, head on over to our list of general Roblox promo codes.

Glowing javelins and a $10m prize fund usher in a brave new world for track and field

The Ultimate Championship aims to revolutionise the sport with promises of bigger prize money and a greater role for athletes

Track and field’s brave new world begins in Budapest on Friday night. The action will be fast-paced and slick, with augmented reality showing athletes’ win percentages and javelins and hammers that glow, making them easier to see on a black infield. In the space of 48 hours, a top sprinter could earn $337,500 (£250,000) for just over a minute’s work.

It is all part of the new World Athletics Ultimate Championship, a three-day event with a prize fund of $10m which is designed to pit the best against the best, and kick off a minor revolution in the sport.

Palworld publishing chief worries early access has 'lost its meaning' as the rise of 'hyper-casual' gaming culture means people often don't understand what they're getting into

Early access on Steam is a simple concept. You buy a game before it's finished, provide bug reports and feedback to developers, and help shape a project's direction and ambitions. Everybody wins: You get to play the game early, and developers earn money that helps them continue and finish their work. It's been a boon for numerous notable games over the years, including Baldur's Gate 3 and Palworld.

In an interview with GamesRadar, though, Pocketpair communications and publishing chief John Buckley said that proposition is becoming increasingly difficult for developers, because the whole idea of early access has "lost its meaning."

"Go back to the Steam Greenlight days, when Steam changed Greenlight to early access, there were a few years where it really was running and operating exactly the way I think Steam dreamed it," Buckley said.

"I think everyone knew what they were in for. The kind of people who were buying early access games knew what they were in for. They were the kind of gamers who want to be involved, they want to give feedback, they want to talk to devs. It was this really beautiful golden era."

Now, though, the rise of what Buckley called "hyper-casual mobile culture, and hyper-casual gaming culture, and live service gaming culture" has eroded that understanding, and the accord between developer and gamer that rose from it: "The culture has changed and early access, essentially, has lost its meaning. People just buy an early access game like they buy a normal game and treat it like that's the game."

There's no doubt some truth to that. Generally speaking, I subscribe to the principle that if a product is offered for sale, and people pay money for that product, they're well within their rights to expect that they're getting the product. But early access isn't quite so cut-and-dried: Steam Greenlight was a more cumbersome system, but it also clearly delineated between a work-in-progress and a final release, which early access releases often do not.

Dialed-in gamers, or those who are old enough to remember when beta testing was an actual phase of development rather than a promotional tool, may have a clearer idea of what to expect from early access games. But as gaming becomes more of a mainstream pastime it's reasonable to expect that an increasing percentage of the audience is going to neither know nor care about what early access: They just want to buy a game and play it.

Buckley doesn't believe that's necessarily a bad thing, but he did say "it's getting harder on Steam, sadly, because this culture has come through." And while he remains a believer, he also acknowledged that early access isn't ideal for every game, and that the system is "abused" by some developers.

"The biggest way it's abused now is just like, 'We'll release it now because we need money'," he said. "It's a way now to sidestep traditional funding means. It's almost become the new Kickstarter in some ways. Put out the build to get the money."

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that "put out the build to get the money" really qualifies as abuse—it is, after all, the whole basis for the early access system. But it can lead to trouble if early access sales aren't enough to support continued development, or simply through mismanaged expectations. The best thing developers who release into early access can do to avoid potential headaches, Buckley said, is to be clear about what's happening and, as much as possible, keep people fully informed.

"All we can do is try to softly educate people. I think we do an okay job. I think we try to be quite transparent. 'Hey guys, the next update's a while away. It's not going to be content-heavy, it's going to be QOL-heavy.' We try to balance it."

Pocketpair has indeed taken that approach with its fans: Buckley recently warned his followers not to expect too much from Palworld's 1.1 patch, saying it's "not planning to spend a year making a massive update."
