Orioles call up Gibson to start vs. Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles will activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to manager Craig Albernaz.

The Orioles are calling up their No. 3 prospect, 23-year-old right-hander Trey Gibson, to start against the Yankees on Sunday. The move comes amid multiple pitching injuries, as Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer and Zach Eflin are all on the injured list.

Gibson, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has a 4.01 ERA in Triple-A this season with 25 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. He'll face Max Fried in what will be his major league debut. The Orioles enter Saturday with a 15-17 record, six games out of first place in the AL East. musojam.blog
