Bodhana Sivanandan: Youngest Woman Grandmaster

London schoolgirl Bodhana Sivanandan, 11, has become the youngest person ever to hold the title of woman grandmaster at the Chess Olympiad in Uzbekistan.

Playing on a car booster seat to reach the board, Bodhana Sivanandan achieved the milestone while competing internationally. The young chess prodigy, who learned the game from her father at age five, defeated former British champion three years later despite being just eight years old.

Now back at school in north London for design and technology lessons, Bodhana balances her international chess career with the challenges of childhood and starting secondary school. livefromquarantine.club
