Connor scores twice as Jets beat Blue Jackets

Kyle Connor scored twice to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night, keeping the Jets' playoff hopes alive.

Connor tied the game with 1:46 remaining in the second period and scored the winner with 9:02 left in the third. His two goals give him 36 for the season. Mark Scheifele recorded his 59th and 60th assists, while Connor Hellebuyck made 15 saves. Ivan Provorov scored for Columbus, which has lost six straight games.

The victory moved Winnipeg to 78 points, one out of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Columbus, which set a franchise record with 57 goals by defensemen this season, fell to four straight home losses and remains outside the Eastern Conference wild-card picture.
