Ronny Mauricio suffered a left thumb fracture while diving into first base during Saturday's game against the Angels. Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Mauricio could be sidelined for 6-8 weeks pending further evaluation after a CT scan on Monday.
The Mets called up 28-year-old infielder Vidal Brujan from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Mauricio, with Eric Wagaman designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Brujan, acquired from Minnesota in January, will make his Mets debut and will be used interchangeably with Bo Bichette at shortstop. The Mets are already dealing with injuries to Jorge Polanco, Francisco Lindor, and Luis Robert Jr. livefromquarantine.club
