Patriots Eye Developmental QB in 2026 Draft

The Patriots plan to add a third quarterback this offseason, targeting young prospects like Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson for developmental upside.

The 2026 NFL Draft is less than three weeks away and the New England Patriots are looking to add a developmental quarterback to back up franchise quarterback Drake Maye. The team will likely add a third arm on Day 3 or as an undrafted free agent, with head coach Mike Vrabel saying they need a young player that can be developed. One of the prospects that fits the profile is Baylor’s senior quarterback Sawyer Robertson, who finished fifth in the FBS in passing touchdowns and sixth in passing yards last season. Robertson’s size, athleticism and ability to extend plays make him an attractive option for the Patriots’ depth chart.
