Arizona Advances to NCAA Tennis Second Round

Arizona defeated NAU 4-0 in their first-round NCAA match, advancing to face Clemson in the second round Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.

8th-seeded Arizona (22-4) continued their tradition of winning first-round NCAA matches, defeating Northern Arizona 4-0 at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Wildcats have now won their opening NCAA match for six consecutive seasons, with singles wins from Jay Friend, Filip Gustafsson and Alejandro Arcila securing the victory in less than 90 minutes.

Arizona will face Clemson (17-12) in the second round on Saturday. The Tigers narrowly defeated Ole Miss 4-3, needing 3-set victories from their No. 1 and No. 5 singles players. The teams previously met in Florida in January, with Arizona winning four of five doubles matches. A win Saturday would send Arizona to their fourth consecutive Sweet 16, with the opportunity to host for the first time. amunra.help
