Football coaching legend Lou Holtz, who passed away at age 89 on Wednesday, was equally passionate about golf throughout his life. A single-digit handicapper, he hosted a SiriusXM radio show called 'Holtz in One' and was a member at prestigious clubs including Augusta National, where he won the member-member tournament in 2005 – an achievement he called his greatest.
Holtz's golf journey began in 1962 when William & Mary made him golf coach to supplement his football coaching salary, despite admitting he didn't even know how to keep score. He formed friendships with golf greats like Lee Trevino and had an iconic Sports Illustrated cover story interrupted when Jack Nicklaus won the 1986 Masters.
