Lou Holtz, Notre Dame coaching legend, dies at 89

Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz has passed away at age 89. He led Notre Dame to a national championship in 1988.

Lou Holtz, the charismatic coach who restored Notre Dame's football glory, died Tuesday at age 89. Holtz led the Fighting Irish to a 23-10-1 record from 1986-1991, including the 1988 national championship.

Before Notre Dame, Holtz coached at six other schools and later became a prominent college football analyst. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
